2013 IIV

IIV

This work was produced to conform to the absurd limit notion of ‘474’. It is an extension of earlier work designed to correspond to this restriction.  It consists of three cylindrical containers filled with water on a raised platform. The number ‘474’ is displayed in mirrored roman numerals on the wall directly behind the cylinders. Due to the refraction of the water, the number 474 can be seen when the roman numerals are viewed through the glass. The correct image only exists with the presence of a viewer.

With this work I wrote a supplementary text, also designed to conform to the ‘474’ notion. It is exactly 474 words long and was included in the ‘474: The Mise-en-Scene’ exhibition publication , produced by IADT and the IMMA national programme.
